Talking to your child’s doctor

Preparing for your child’s next appointment

If your child has unexplained symptoms, you might feel overwhelmed with questions. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your discussions with your child’s doctor:

Bring a list – write down any questions you may have leading up to your child’s next appointment and add more as they come up. Then be sure to bring the list to your child’s appointment

Keep track of paperwork and medical records – use physical print-outs or electronic copies on your computer so that important information is at your fingertips when you need it

Don’t be afraid to ask – ask your child’s doctor for copies of notes or written information that you can refer to or research later
